Golden Hook Trophy

The Golden Hook Trophy was introduced in 1967. From then until today, it has grown into what is perhaps the most prestigious sport anglers trophy in the world. The Golden Hook is only awarded once a year in each country, and since the start it has been awarded in 32 countries. The reason why Mustad introduced the award was to put focus on the fact that the fish hook is an important part of fishing tackle. The winners of the Mustad Golden Hook Trophy are definitely among the best sport anglers in the world.

The Golden Hook in a New Package
After 39 years, Mustad has given this classic trophy a well deserved face-lift. Golden Hook winners constitute an exclusive club, and on the website you will find information about the winners, statutes and other information.The new, modern design gives a signal that Mustad wishes to increase their emphasis on the trophy and make sure that winning it will become the dream of every sport anglers in the future.

Africa:
Int. Tigerfish tournament in Zimbabwe , International Marlin Tournament in Mauritius in 2005 and ”Rock and Surf competition” in South Africa.

Europe:
Romania , Bulgaria , Norway , Czech Republic , European Championship in Deep Sea Fishing, Nordic Championship

USA:
The Trophy is awarded to the winners of the Mustad Ultrapoint Classic Championship.

Australia :
The New South Wales Game, Fishing Association Interclub Tournament. Australia ‘s premier game fishing tournament.

In New Zealand:
Awarded to the angler affiliated with and nominated by the New Zealand Angling and Casting Association (NZACA) who captures the largest fin fish during the calendar year.

The letter from the CEO
Winners of the Mustad Golden Hook Trophy automatically become members of the exclusive Golden Hook Club. They receive a token of honour in the form of a congratulatory letter and Golden Hook Emblem from the Chairman of the Golden Hook Committee, who will always be identical to the CEO of O. Mustad & Søn A.S.

The Trophy
The framed hook is manually produced, 36 cm long, coated with 24 carat gold. It is a sophisticated version of the biggest commercially produced fish hook, the Mustad ref 4480 size 19/0, originally made for shark fishing.

The Statutes:

• The MUSTAD GOLDEN HOOK TROPHY is to be awarded once a year in each country. The MUSTAD GOLDEN HOOK TROPHY is to be awarded to winners of competitions at a national level. In order to qualify for the award, these competitions must be the largest, or among the largest, in that particular country.
• The MUSTAD GOLDEN HOOK TROPHY is to be awarded according to the criteria: the largest fish or the largest total catch.
• The MUSTAD GOLDEN HOOK TROPHY is to be awarded to the winner (or winning team) on the conditions mentioned above, and to no one else.

The Winners
Since the introduction of Mustad Golden Hook Trophy in 1967, there have been over 100 winners from 32 different countries.

Winners of the Mustad Golden Hook Trophy automatically become members of the exclusive Golden Hook Club.
