Hook Range: Long Point
|

Take a close look at
the new Long Point range from Mustad and you may notice
that the front of the hook is long, much longer than
on many other models. This extra-long front, or point,
combines two vitally important qualities, better penetration
and better hold once the hook is in place. I've got
tremendous confidence in the new range of Mustad hooks.
I know what's gone into them and I'll be using most
of the patterns this year. Here's a brief rundown of

Match Maggot
A great all-round hook that is especially at home floatfishing
on rivers or for catching bream and roach on feeder.
It's finished in a lovely smooth, matt black nickel
with a microbarb so bait damage is non-existent on hooking.
I'm certain I will be using this hook a lot over the
coming seasons.
Sizes 14 to 24.

Medium Feeder
Here's a hook that will stop anything you're likely
to come up against. The parrot beak point holds its
sharpness and helps to draw the hook into the fish.
It's perfect for many of the self-hooking feeder rigs
I use. Almost invisible on the bottom of most venues.
Sizes 12 to 20.

Barbless Feeder
Similar to the Medium Feeder, but barbless. I'll be
using this hook for feeder fishing on barbless-only
waters like many of the prolific carp venues.

Magnum Spade
A real powerhouse of a hook that maintains its parrot
beak ultra-sharp long point brilliantly, even during
real bagging-up sessions. Use it when big chub and barbel
are the quarry.

Carp Feeder Barbless
Designed for barbless-only waters. Same properties
as the Carp Feeder with a long, needle point, spade
end and black nickel finish.
Sizes 8 to 16.

Carp Feeder
A hook designed mainly with Method feeder fishing in
mind. The Carp Feeder is fine enough for the hook to
penetrate easily in this self-hooking technique, but
very powerful when big fish are being played. Its offset
point is a further hooking aid.

Round Bend Match
If you're looking for a hook for caster fishing then
this is the one. It has a perfect long shank and round
bend to fit the bait, but its light weight won't arouse
the suspicions of the fish. A very sharp point allows
easy entrance and exit from the caster, while its colour
is unobtrusive in case you're fishing with the hook
outside the bait.
