1
Run the tying thread along the hook shank until it hangs over the barb of the circle hook. |
2
Tie in a bunch of Ultra hair as shown on top of the hook shank. This should be approximatly 10 cm long. You can trim it down to the size requiered later. |
3
Once you have trimmed it down to size you can tie in 4 or 5 strands of chrystal hair to add a little sparckle. |
4
Burn the ends of two lengths of mono and dip in black varnish. These should be prepared before hand as they take some time to dry. |
5
Tie in the eyes one each side of the ultra hair as shown. |
6
Cut a length of crystal chenille and tie in at the base of the shrimp head. |
7
Wrap the chenille around the whole length of the hook shaft to form the body. You should take care as to comb the fibres forward each turn, so you get a nice full body. |
8
Tie off the chrystal chenille and trim off the fibres on top of the hook shank as shown. |
9
The body of the shrimp should now look like this. |
10
Now tie in another bunch of 10 cm fibres at the tail of the fly. |
11
Follow step 10 with two long fibres. |
12
Whip finish and cut off the tying thread. Now while holding all the long ultra hair fibres down with your left hand apply a small amount of epoxy to form the shell back. Be shure not to use too much epoxy as this will make the pattern fish up side down. You may have to hold the ultra hair in place a short while and blow on the epoxy until it sets. |
