-During the filming of the video "Chasing The Big One" in year 2000, Team Mustad won the Söröya festival by catching a total of 2284.5 kg fish during the 10 hours the competition lasted. This is the European record for the amount of fish caught in a competition.
During the last few years (2004 - 2006), the team has been engaged in several projects with a high media profile and contributed to reportages from Germany , Australia and the USA , in addition to taking part in TV programmes and videos. The team is sponsored by O.Mustad & Sön A.S., the world's largest manufacturer of fish hooks.
On this website Team Mustad presents fishing tips, travel tips, and pictures of some of the highlights the team has experienced throughout the last few years. Our intention is to make this a site where you can take part in the fishing action and learn about various fishing methods. This happy bunch of anglers consists of some of the best Norwegian deep-sea fishers. All of them are interested in many kinds of sport fishing, such as fly fishing, ice fishing, worm fishing, Big Game fishing, salmon fishing, perch fishing, etc. What is important to the team members is that they are good friends who have lots of fun and are able to share exciting fishing experiences around the world. Asgeir Alvestad, from Grimstad, Norway enjoys most types of fishing, and is an expert deep sea angler. One of Norway 's leading competition anglers. Home waters are along the southern coast of Norway , but he prefers to go to Söröya outside of Hammerfest in Northern Norway and to Cuba . He works for Pure Fishing, selling fishing tackle. Asgeir is an experienced lecturer/instructor when it comes to fishing and fishing tackle.
Geir Sivertzen, from Gjövik, Norway, has had fishing as his main interest ever since his father taught him how to use a worm rod to fish for small trout. Even though he comes from inland Norway , he prefers fishing in the sea. Works as a Product Development Manager at Mustad. He is also known as "Dr. Hook. He answers questions about fishing and hooks in fishing magazines. Enjoys fly fishing as well as most other types of fishing around the world. He is very concerned about communicating the joy of fishing to everybody in Norway and abroad. Has been a member of Team Mustad Norway since 1995.
Jan Ring, from Stavanger, Norway, is the "old fox" in the team with numerous championships, both individually and as a team member. Jan works as an economist at Statoil. He spends much of his free time fishing, and his favourite places to fish is Kenya and Alaska . Taken part in the World Championship in Svolvær many times. Enjoys preparing gourmet fish dinners for his family.
Tore Gismervik, from Bergen, Norway, has grown up with wolf-fish, cod and ling in his fantastic home waters. His favourite place is Fedje close to the Sognefjord. Works in Wema, a family owned electronics company. His first big prize, in addition to all the local club championships, was gold medal in the European Championship. He is perhaps the best wolf-fish angler in Norway and he is an excellent instructor teaching others the various techniques. Gourmet fish chef.
Torunn Handeland, from Brumunddal, Norway , is without a doubt the best femaly deep sea fisher in Norway , and she often beats the boys in competitions. She works as a teacher at Jönsberg Agricultural College . Her favourite place along the Norwegian coast is the waters outside of Hitra. As all the other team members she has won a large number of prizes and has lost of experience fishing along the Norwegian coast. She has records in deep sea fishing down to a depth of one kilometre.
